  5. Liverspot

This debut release by Static. is definitely striving for a more commercial Industrial feel comparable to such acts as Nine Inch Nails and Machines of Loving Grace. Clean production, pop songwriting elements, and a very aurally appealing vocalist all help complete this agenda. However there are just enough non-standard musical elements presents on the EP to keep it from being considered a clone act that is trying to stand on the shoulders of giants. Musically, Static. is a guitar crossover band who does an excellent job of keeping the electronics in the front of the mix and relegating the guitar to a rhythm position only thereby allowing the programming and sequencing to shine through. Lyrically, Justin Chia reminds me a great deal of Trent Reznor. He utilizes the same personal oriented lyrical influences and vocal style that has made Trent such a passionate singer. Overall not a bad release, but the band could really benefit from finding it's own identity and shying away from it's musical influences.

Static. is: Justin Chia
