The first music that I heard from Peter Nystrom was the project Each Dawn I Die, which consisted of a handful of Dark Ambient pieces overlayed with a variety of Science Fiction and Horror samples. Ironically, his mainstay project Megaptera sounds almost identical. "The Curse of the Scarecrow", certainly uses both of these elements, the overall track length for each composition is shorter and the spoken word samples are embedded deeper into the music. He also thickly layers the bass heavy ambience with echoed percussion and other heavily reverbed instrumentation. Each track seems to hang in the air like the gloom on a bleak afternoon during a week long downpour. This release is definitely the perfect compliment to a particularly evil mood. It sounds like it is time to plan a heinous act of terror and use this album as the soundtrack.
